Psychiatry Born from Advocacy

Yoma Psychiatric Solutions was founded on the belief that everyone deserves access to compassionate, effective mental health care — and that the stigma surrounding mental illness must be challenged, not accepted.

The Story Behind the Practice

A Moment That Changed Everything

Sandra Obiebi's path into psychiatry wasn't just a career choice — it was a calling shaped by a moment she couldn't ignore.

Early in her career, Sandra worked in a setting that cared for individuals with mental health challenges. One day, she took a group of patients out into the community. What she witnessed stopped her in her tracks: people around them visibly pulling away, avoiding eye contact, keeping their distance — not out of malice, but out of fear and misunderstanding.

“That touched me so much,” Sandra recalls. “I saw how invisible these individuals felt — how the world treated them as something to be avoided rather than people deserving of dignity and connection.”

That experience became the foundation of everything Sandra does. She pursued her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and became a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a clear purpose: to provide compassionate care and to use her platform to advocate for patients with mental health conditions.

Yoma Psychiatric Solutions is the embodiment of that mission — a practice where every patient is seen, heard, and treated with the dignity they deserve.
